We sat down with David Wilde of David Wilde Studios to discuss his background and plans for the future. David has a studio in Sir James Clark Building of Abbey Mill Business Centre. He is a Filmmaker- Actor. You can watch his latest feature film `Cold Blooded Killers’ on Amazon Prime Video UK-USA. On TV’s, phones, Tablets.
Tell us about your career to-date?
I started drama classes in my twenties in Paisley. I knew I wanted to be an actor and this motivated me to relocate to London when I was in my early 20’s. One of my earlier films is called Pasty Faces, I wrote and directed it but I had to raise the capital to do the trailer for the film. This then lead to getting a deal in London to make the full feature film in Scotland, LA, and Las Vegas.
I have made several feature films in Scotland and the US since then. My most recent is Cold Blooded Killers, which I also star in. It’s about two hit-men who go to the Isle Of Arran to do a routine hit. Some of the scenes where shot at Abbey Mill for the film.
Being a Filmmaker-Actor is not a full-time job, working from my office in Paisley I work with companies looking to tell their story via digital technology. A page on my website gives more information about Showreel Shorts. A new page will launch next week for video content that is more geared towards businesses. This is purely content creation, people underestimate the power of content creation, it is storytelling and finding a balance between influencing and selling. I offer my services to companies that are looking to make their brand visible online, gain new customers, increase their sales and create a buzz around their product / service. Top entrepreneurs like Gary Vaynerchuk & Chase Jarvis are inspirations. I look at the energy they are giving to their audience daily and I aspire to emulate this in the UK over the next 5 – 10 years.
When did you move into Sir James Clark Building?
I moved into Sir James Clark Building in August 2016. I searched for spaces all over Paisley and Glasgow. Abbey Mill is very local. 10 mins from my home and the infrastructure around Abbey Mill is important to me.
If people come to my office, it’s easy for them to get here from Glasgow or other places. The security you have that some other places did not have. The car park facilities for visitors, and Morrisons. (Amazon Delivery boxes) and such. In general, most other places I tried were in industrial businesses centres. Difficult to get to and overpriced.
Also, I was born in Paisley. Most of my family and relatives all worked in this business centre area when the mills were in operation.
What are your business aspirations?
I have a vision of creating a hub for creative likeminded people to work, socialise, share thoughts, dreams, and to learn how to story tell market better. There is a gap in the market in Scotland & the UK for this. I would love to get people to share their experiences with others who are starting out in their careers.
My day job is Showreel Shorts, but I have written novels, and I hope to expand the writing and filmmaking over the next 5 years. I can distribute my film work globally via Amazon Prime. I also have a few Hollywood producers looking at bigger scripts.
